China’s original aluminium production fell for the fifth consecutive month in November, according to data published by the National Bureau of Statistics in Thursday, prompting production to fall to its lowest level since February 2015 in the smelter’s winter restrictions.
China is the world’s largest producer of aluminium, with data showing 2.35 million tonnes of raw aluminium in November, down 7.8% from 2.55 million tonnes in October, down 16.8% from a year earlier.
In order to carry out the plan of Air pollution prevention and control, and to strengthen the control of air pollution in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and surrounding areas, this March, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the “four provinces” jointly formulated and issued the “Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and surrounding areas of the 2017 air Pollution control work programme. In the “work plan”, it is clear that the implementation of industrial enterprises heating season wrong peak production, of which all over the heating season electrolytic aluminum plant more than 30%, Alumina Enterprises Limited production of about 30%. The scope of implementation covers 28 cities.

However, analysts noted that China’s Acer Bridge group, the world’s largest aluminium smelter, managed to avoid a sharp reduction in production, although it is located in Binzhou, Shandong Province, one of the 28 cities. The group had shut down 2.68 million tonnes of illegal capacity earlier this year. This may explain the relatively small monthly decline in overall production.
Jackie Wang, a cru aluminum analyst in Beijing, said: “There is a limited impact on winter production, especially in Shandong, which did not meet previous expectations.” “She expects December output to be flat with November data,” she said.
China’s original aluminium production in January-November totaled 29.54 million tonnes, up 1.7% from a year earlier, and is expected to record annual highs for the year. China’s aluminum production in 2016 was 31.9 million tonnes.
China’s November total output of 10 non-ferrous metals was 4.32 million tonnes, the lowest level since April 2016, the Bureau of Statistics reported. Production fell 3.1% from 4.46 million tonnes in October, down 6.9% from a year earlier.
In January-November, 10 non-ferrous Metals produced a total of 49.34 million tonnes, up 2.5% from a year earlier, and are still expected to record highs for the year.
2016 China Nonferrous Metals production of 52.8 million tons.
